Hailing from the Northern suburbs of Perth WA, Castles & Canyons was created out of a collective love of iconic tunes ranging from jazz standards through to various contemporary hits through the decades up until the present. The band features a unique blend of indie folk and contemporary jazz vocals, culminating in delightful moments of harmony and is backed by acoustic guitar perfection.
Castles & Canyons is a 3 piece band, comprised of 2 vocalists and a guitarist. However, the band is adaptable and able to include keys, bass and percussion should the need arise. Male vocal is available, as the guitarist also sings. In regard to genres, Castles & Canyon's repertoire ranges from R&B and soul classics, through to pop, blues, indie folk and jazz standards. All three members are accomplished musicians in their own right, with years of performance experience under their belts. Bridget sings lead vocals and plays several instruments predominantly for Perth's cherished pop folk band Simone & Girlfunkle, and previously for the indie pop group known as Boys Boys Boys! A WAAPA graduate and 2006 WAM award winner, Todd also plays guitar and sings lead vocals for a punk rock group known as Castle Bravo. Having previously completed an Adv. Dip. in Contemporary vocals in Sydney NSW, Christie has been fortunate to work with both international and national artists such as Marina Prior and Alvin Slaughter as a backing vocalist in venues such as the Sydney Olympic Centre and the Acer Arena. Both Todd and Christie are music educators specialising in guitar and vocals, and ensemble direction respectively at various schools across Perth.
